Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On December 19, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh made a working tour to Songinokhairkhan district, where he saw a process of actions being conducted within the framework to reduce air and environmental pollution of the capital city. In the beginning, he came to 22nd khoroo of Songinokhairkhan district to see a process of assembling work by the Thermal Distribution System to connect thermal stoves, owned by the Military Service unit and Special Rescue Service of the National Emergency Management Agency, with the central heating system. Afterwards, the PM visited a family of T. Ganbaatar to see how he heats up the home with electrical heater. According to the survey, 220 thousand households live in ger area. About 20 thousand of them are reportedly using electrical heaters. Authorities of the Thermal Power Plant reported that in recent years, a number of households using electrical heaters are increasing, which is proven by recent fluctuations of energy use. During the PM’s working tour, businesses and companies introduced electrical heaters, costing between MNT140 thousand and MNT2.5 million. After seeing all of these events, U.Khurelsukh appealed public to realize their social responsibly, warm up homes well, decrease heat losses, cut coal consumptions and use electrical heaters if possible. He added that decreasing a number of heating stoves and chimneys of ger area, which make 80 percent of the city’s air pollution, and connecting them with the central heating system would enable to reduce poisonous smog by over 10 percent by 2019.
