Minister of Commerce and Industry Meets Ministers and Officials Participating in LDC5

Doha, March 09 (QNA) - HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani , met with a number of ministers and senior officials, on the sidelines of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5), held in Doha.
HE Minister of Commerce and Industry met separately with HE Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim, HE Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev, and HE the Special Envoy of HE President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Umarov, HE Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of the Republic of Kenya Moses Kuria, HE Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment of the Republic of Cuba Rodrigo Malmierca, and HE Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavqi Zavqizoda.
The meetings discussed aspects of joint cooperation, especially in the commercial, investment and industrial fields, and ways to enhance and develop them.
HE Minister of Commerce and Industry also highlighted the stimulating economic policies established by the State of Qatar to support the private sector, indicating incentives, legislation and promising opportunities that would allow investors, businessmen and company owners to expand and invest in the State of Qatar.
In a related context, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry met separately with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang, HE Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Dr. Gerd Muller, and the Senior Vice President and Global Innovation Officer for Cisco Dr. Guy Diedrich.
In this regard, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry expressed Qatar's appreciation for the support provided by WIPO to help develop the country's intellectual property policies and systems, especially following up on the development of the national strategy for intellectual property, and activating the use of memorandums of understanding signed between the two sides.
His Excellency also stressed the importance of the role played by UNIDO in achieving industrial development, especially in developing countries, and noted Qatar's keenness to support the organization's efforts in facing global development challenges. (QNA)
