MSDF, Doha Horticultural Expo 2023 Celebrate Family Day in Qatar

Doha, April 15 (QNA) - In cooperation with Doha Horticultural Expo 2023, the Ministry of Social Development and the Family (MSDF) celebrated Family Day in Qatar, which falls on April 15, as part of the Ministry's efforts to emphasize the importance of the family as the nucleus of society and its pivotal and active role in the development and building process.
During a ceremony held at Al Bidda Park dedicated to Doha Horticultural Expo 2023, HE Minister of Municipality Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie and HE Minister of Social Development and Family Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad participated in planting a bramble tree, which characterizes the Qatari environment. They also participated in an iftar party with the elderly.
The celebration of Family Day in Qatar aims at enhancing awareness and family and social cohesion, gratitude and loyalty to the family, supporting the spirit of cooperation among its members, reviving the authentic Qatari family values, consolidating the value of tolerance, emphasizing the rights of the family and strengthening its position as a social institution that is the first building block of society.
In a press statement, HE the Minister of Social Development and the Family stressed that the celebration of Family Day in Qatar is an occasion and a community initiative to emphasize the role of the family and its position in society, adding that the family is the nucleus of society. When a family is properly built and educated about its duties and role, this will inevitably lead to building a good, cohesive and strong society, she said.
Regarding the joint cooperation with the Doha Horticultural Expo 2023 in organizing this celebration, HE the Minister of Social Development and the Family expressed gratitude for this cooperation, in an effort to instill values and build a strong, cohesive family. A confirmation of this is the Ministry's participation today in planting bramble tree owing to its very important cultural and social dimensions, HE the Minister affirmed.
The Ministry of Social Development and Family, she said, is the first government agency to participate and cooperate with the international exhibition (Doha Horticultural Expo 2023) by celebrating this occasion in Al Bidda Park designated for the exhibition.
HE Minister of Municipality Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie noted the Ministry's keenness on participating along with the Ministry of Social Development and the Family in celebrating Family Day in Qatar because it is an important day in strengthening the cohesion of families, and spreading awareness of the role of the family in development, stressing that all institutions and bodies must play their role in building a strong and cohesive society.
His Excellency pointed out that this was the first activity done in the land designated for the International Horticultural Exhibition scheduled to begin in October, noting that other activities will be organized in the coming months.
He stressed that preparations for the Doha Horticultural Expo 2023 are in full swing, including the establishment of infrastructure and the design of pavilions for the participating countries, whose number has so far reached more than 60 countries, adding preparations are underway optimally. For the plan and calendar of the exhibition's activities over a period of 179 days, it will be presented to the public with wide participation from all government agencies, universities, research centers and other sectors in the country, he said.
For her part, Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at the MSDF HE Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al-Thani affirmed the Ministry's keenness on spreading the culture, practice, and skill of creating happy, strong, and cohesive families in Qatar by reviving societal values and traditions.
She stressed that advancing the family as an entity cannot be done by individual efforts alone, rather it requires the collaboration of all governmental and societal institutions to support and care for the family, protecting its security, stability, and cohesion, and ensuring its resilience as the nucleus of a stable society and a country that enjoys a rapid economic growth and a solid social structure in face of challenges.
In her turn, the Director of the Social Welfare Department at MSDF Reem Al Ajmi said that celebrating Family Day in Qatar is a reflection of the priority and importance the government attaches to the family, as well as social institutions' role in supporting and developing community building and development in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Qatar National Development Strategy.
Al Ajami pointed out that MSDF's celebration of this event comes within the framework of its constant efforts to promote social culture, emphasizing the role of the family in society's formation and in the preservation of its identity, customs and traditions.
MSDF had launched several events on this occasion, accompanied by a series of awareness lectures in schools and mosques, as well as entertainment activities focused on enhancing feelings of belonging, joy and cohesion among family members, as well as educating society about the importance of the family, and activating its pioneering and leadership role in upbringing the young.
In addition, Director of Events and Corporate Communication Department at Doha Horticultural Expo 2023 Haifa Al Otaibi said that MSDF is the first government agency to confirm its participation in the activities of Doha Horticultural Expo 2023 by planting the first seedlings in the exhibition venue.
She explained that the theme of the Doha Horticultural Expo 2023 is "Green desert, better environment." adding that the State of Qatar aims to face and overcome a great challenge, and that is transforming this desert region into a greener one, with well thought out strategies and plans towards this end.
Haifa Al Otaibi stressed that celebrating Qatar Family Day reinforces the efforts of society as a whole in achieving the State of Qatar's goals for the future. (QNA)
