Myanmar Worker Has Covid-19 Pneumonia Before Death: Public Health Ministry

BANGKOK, April 27 (TNA) – A Myanmar worker who earlier died in his room and was found to have Covid-19 on April 17 contracted the Omicron subvariant XBB.1.16.1 and had pneumonia before his death, said director-general of the Disease Control Department Thares Krasanairawiwong.

The 34-year-old Myanman national was an employee of a factory in Bangkok. He had never received a Covid-19 vaccine and did not seek medical treatment for Covid-19 before he died, he said.

The man celebrated the Songkran festival with friends before he developed a fever and pink eye. He bought medicine for himself but did not go to hospital. He was later found dead in his room in Sathorn district.

A CT scan, performed on his body at Chulalongkorn University found that he had severe Covid-19 pneumonia. The lab test result showed he was infected with the Omicron subvariant XBB.1.16.1.

The director –general advised those who has never been vaccinated to get a Covid-19 jab to build immunity against the various strains of the virus. They can call the DCD hotline 1422 for more information. (TNA)
