3rd Int’l PG Confab Ends

Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan prov, May 2, IRNA – The Third International Persian Gulf Conference which opened on April 29 ended in Hormuzgan University on May 1.
Scientific secretary of the conference Mansour Sefat-Gol told the closing ceremony that the event not only helped promote studies on Persian Gulf, but also prepared a suitable ground for researchers and scientists to share their views with one another.
Tehran University has tried to give direction to research activities on Persian Gulf, he said noting that the event was an opportunity to this end.
He further noted that the international gathering discussed history of the Persian Gulf.
Anthropological studies of Persian Gulf, oil, power and policy in Persian Gulf, traditions and techniques, culture and beliefs in Persian Gulf, indigenous markets, seafaring, significance of epic poems in the south, historical geography of Persian Gulf and status of Iran in Persian Gulf cultural development are among other topics dealt with during the event.
The third biennial international conference on the Persian Gulf opened at two Iranian universities in Tehran and Hormuzgan provinces on April 29.
The confab focused on the environmental concerns and Iran's ownership of the Persian Gulf.
This conference, which is held every two years, was attended by researchers, scholars and specialists from the United States, China, France, Britain and Persian Gulf littoral states.
The conference was sponsored by the University of Tehran in cooperation with Tehran Municipality, Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and Hormuzgan University./end
