Abe Resolved to Show Power of Reconciliation at Pearl Harbor

Honolulu, Dec. 26 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Monday that he will show the world the power of postwar reconciliation between Japan and the United States when he visits Pearl Harbor on Tuesday. Japan and the United States will continue to confront various regional and global challenges together as the alliance of hope, Abe said at a dinner with people of Japanese descent in Honolulu. Abe plans to visit Pearl Harbor with U.S. President Barack Obama to mourn war victims at the USS Arizona Memorial, a facility built over a warship that was sunk in Japan's 1941 attack on the harbor. This will be the first memorial service at Pearl Harbor to be joined by the two countries' leaders. END
