Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Saturday dedicates an editorial to the 26th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's assumption of supreme commandership of the Korean People's Army. The editorial says that holding Kim Jong Il, the peerless and brilliant commander of Songun, at the top post of the revolutionary armed forces on Dec. 24, Juche 80 (1991) was a historic event of special significance in carving out the destiny of the country and its people. It goes on: Kim Jong Il was the peerless and brilliant commander of Songun who strengthened and developed the People's Army into the elite revolutionary armed forces and defended socialism and vigorously advanced it by dint of arms. The service personnel and people of the DPRK can never forget the immortal and patriotic exploits of Kim Jong Il who set the example of the times in the struggle against the imperialists and the U.S. and provided the powerful Juche-oriented force for winning the final victory by pursuing the original Songun politics.
