Australia’s Foreign Minister to meet Thai PM tomorrow
BANGKOK, Aug 3 (TNA) – Australia's Foreign Minister Julie Bishop is scheduled to meet Thai Prime Minister tomorrow as part of her official visit to Thailand to strengthen bilateral ties on the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Ms Bishop is visiting to the kingdom from Aug 2-5.
Tomorrow, she is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha, Deputy Prime minister/Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan and Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak and her counterpart, Don Pramudwinai, to discuss bilateral cooperation in security, trade and investment, people connectivity and education as well as cooperation in the multilateral framework, particularly a potential free deal in the region.
During her visit, she paid respects to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and met her Thai counterpart on Thursday to sign the Thai-Australian Air Service agreement.
She said the bilateral talks covered several faucets of cooperation. She also expressed her concerns over the tension on the Korean peninsula regarding North Korea’s recent missile launch, saying every country has to work together to achieve denuclearization.
She also delivered a keynote speech on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN establishment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Australian foreign minister also presided over the opening of the new Australian embassy on Wireless Road in Bangkok. (TNA)
