BRITISH PARLIAMENT ORGANIZES EVENT FOR MONGOLIA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ On October 16, all party groups at the British parliament and the Embassy of Mongolia in the United Kingdom co-organized a meeting with a banquet themed "Economic development in Mongolia and environment of trade and investment" in the Palace of Westminster. With an aim to support the business ties and cooperation with East Asian countries, the event brought together members of the Houses of Commons and Lords at the British parliament, delegates from the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, universities and companies collaborating with Mongolia. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the UK underlined the external cooperation has been significantly contributing to a rapid growth of Mongolia's economy and industry, especially its mining sector, and said revenues from the mining industry are used for making investments to education, health and infrastructure, environment protection and good governance and transparency development. The biggest projects and programs have launched in these sectors, he added. Moreover, the vice president of the MCS Group J.Od gave a report about a role of the private sector in Mongolia's economy, then a deputy director of the Asia-Pacific Department of the FCO Mr Davis briefed on some specific planned works to develop Mongolia-Britain relations. Held under initiative of a member of the House of Lords, the meeting-banquet also has a purpose to introduce to British politicians big opportunities to expand the bilateral relations and cooperation with Mongolia in the trade, economics and investment sectors.
