BUDDHIST LEADER AWARDED ORDER OF INDEPENDENCE

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Order of Independence was bestowed on Thursday upon the 9th Jebtsundamba Khutuktu and the leader of Mongolian Buddhism, on occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Mongolian Independence. The Order of Independence has been created recently by the Mongolian Democratic Union (MDU), and it is awarded to the people who have played a main role in the 1990 Democratic Revolution of Mongolia. The 8th Jebtsundamba Khutuktu--the Bogd Khaan (1869-1924)--has been posthumously awarded the Order of Independence. The MDU says it has decided to award the Order the President Ts.Elbegdorj, some MPs and pioneers of the Democratic Revolution. B.Khuder
