CABINET APPROVES AGREEMENT ON TRANSIT TRANSPORT BY RAIL

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh will issue an ordinance, authorizing Minister of Road and Transport Development to sign a rail transport agreement with Russia. During its regular meeting on November 29, the Cabinet discussed and approved a draft Agreement on Terms of Transit Transport by Railway between the Governments of Mongolia and the Russian Federation. With the Agreement’s entry into force, Mongolia will enjoy stable tariff discount on transit transport of its export goods to a third market through Russian territory for 25 years. The Agreement also includes directions such as carrying out a flexible tariff policy on transit transport by rail through the territories of Mongolia and Russia, maintaining tariff conditions competitive in comparison to other routes, simplifying freight passage and supporting increase of freight, and facilitating condition for Mongolian exporters to gain access to sea without hindrance.
