CABINET BACKS BILL ON ELECTION OF CITIZENS' REP'VES KHURAL

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ An irregular cabinet meeting on Thursday discussed and backed in principle a draft law on the election of Citizens' Representative Khural of Ulaanbaatar city. A proposal will be conveyed to the law initiators on a requirement to work out a draft amendment to the law on local election. The draft law reflects clauses--to elect less than 30 candidates from the electoral constituencies, and less than 15 candidates from political parties. In addition, at least 20 per cent of all candidates shall be women, and pledging a cash is forbidden for all candidates during the election campaign. B.Khuder
