CABINET OPTS FOR CAPACITY BOOST IN THERMAL POWER PLANTS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Cabinet has resolved to increase the capacities of the Thermal Power Plants III and IV in an effort to reduce air pollution. In specific, the Cabinet instructed Energy and Finance Ministers to carry out projects to boost the capacity of the Thermal Power Plant III by 250MW and expand the electricity and heat transmission network, and renew the turbine generator of the Thermal Power Plant IV on a soft loan from Russia. Capacity boost at the Thermal Power Plant III will increase its energy generation 2 times and heat generation 1.5 times, extending its operation time. The amount of harmful pollutants emitted by the Plant will be reduced 3 times with increased reliability and stability of the overall operation. Renewal of the turbine generator of the Thermal Power Plant IV will help increase reliability of the Plant’s electricity supply on the national level and heat supply on the capital city level until a new energy source is established. The capacity boost in thermal power plants will enable the use of a 4kW electric heater in 19 thousand households this year, and gradually 60 thousand households.
