CCA HEAD IS SATISFIED WITH SUPPORT FROM ASIA FOUNDATION
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The new Head of the Corruption Combating Agency (CCA) N.Ganbold received on Thursday Mrs. Meloney C.Lindberg, a country representative of the Asia Foundation (AF) for Mongolia to talk about achievements gained in works co-performed by Mongolia and the AF.
According to Mrs. Lindberg, the AF, who launched a project on fighting corruption, has been supporting the CCA in running a among the public a campaign that shows consequences of briberies and corruption. In addition, an annual seminar themed “Activity plan for preventing corruption” has been co-organized from 2008 by the CCA and the Cabinet Secretariat of Mongolia.
Mrs. Lindberg concluded that all types of organizations in Mongolia are able to work out and implement their activity plans on a corruption prevention and have own evaluation systems. She noted that the AF has cooperated with Mongolia in introducing other countries' experiences in creating a legal environment for combating a corruption by altering the criminal law and drawing up a bill on preventing conflicts of interest at public service.
The CCA head N.Ganbold thanked the AF for supporting the agency since its establishment and underlined that the main purpose of the CCA is to prevent corruption-related crimes but not to fight with such crimes that already committed. He said a possibility exists to forward the collaboration, based on international experience, in improving a potential of the CCA and in refining upon the legal environment.
Mr. Ganbold noted that the project on supporting the anti-corruption deeds has been successfully realized, and that a next project is to launch soon named “Fighting with corruption and strengthening good governance”.
Mrs. Lindberg expressed a readiness to support the CCA in approving and realizing the national strategy on combating a corruption.
