CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON ASIAN MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE TAKES PLACE

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian Government and the United Nations (UN) are collaborating to ensure preparation for Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) 2018 which will take place on July in Ulaanbaatar. A consultative meeting on the conference was held on November 17 in State House. Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the conference U.Enkhtuvshin noted in his speech that certain provisions are added to the revised Law on Disaster Protection of Mongolia to fulfill goals set in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Paris Agreement on Climate change at national level. “Adopting this law Mongolian Government legally confirmed its duty and pledge to support the UN actions and policies in direction of reducing disaster risk”, the Deputy PM said. Under the motto ‘Ensuring sustainable development through disaster prevention’ the AMCDRR will discuss initiatives targeted to creating conditions for global security and peace by mitigating disaster risks, share achievements and experiences of the countries, broaden cooperation and promote Mongolian government actions and policies on it.
