DEFENSE MINISTER MEETS AUSTRALIAN AND ITALIAN AMBASSADORS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On November 17, MP and Defense Minister N. Enkhbold met ambassadors of Australia and Italy. At the meeting with Australian Ambassador John Langtry, the Defense Minister said, “Australia constantly has been involving its troops in annual multinational exercise ‘Khaan Quest’ since 2008. We believe it will retain participations.” The Minister expressed an interest to develop bilateral cooperation by regularly organizing talks on defense policy, expanding peacekeeping operations and widening the scope of personnel training. Within the framework of the bilateral cooperation, Mongolia sends an officer to Australian Command & Staff College every year and Mongolia’s military personnel attends a training in Australia on peacekeeping operations to improve their knowledge and skills. Afterwards, the Minister met Andrea de Felip, Ambassador of Italy. The Minister expressed his satisfaction with successful development of bilateral relations and cooperation since an official relation in defense sector was established between two countries 20 years ago.
