DEMPARTY FACTION MEETS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ On Monday, the Democratic Party's (DP) faction discussed a draft law on granting allowances for mothers but did not back it.
"Since the newly altered law on election forbids the political parties to promise the electorate any welfare things proir and during the election, we can not back this draft," said the faction head Ch.Saikhanbileg. Some clauses of the altered election already came into force from the first day of this year, he added. Meanwhile, the faction of the Mongolian People's Party (MPP) discussed and backed this draft law last week.
The DP faction then discussed a draft amendment to the law on prohibiting granting special licenses for prospecting for minerals, initiated by the President. The faction decided to use the current law on minerals until an amendment although this law expired on December 31, 2011. It means that these licenses will not be given untill an approval of a new law.
