Deputy PM has no ideas on Yingluck's whereabouts

BANGKOK, Aug 28 (TNA) -- Authorities had done their best to follow former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra and they had not been lenient despite her disappearance, Deputy Prime Minister/Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon said. Asked why Ms Yingluck had a chance to flee just before the Supreme Court's ruling of her rice scheme although authorities had closely monitor her movements, Gen Prawit said authorities really had no ideas when Ms Yingluck had disappeared. "The flight of Ms Yingluck was unexpected because she had always insisted that she would not escape and police were always in front of her residence," Gen Prawit said. Col Sirichan Ngathong, deputy spokesperson of the National Council for Peace and Order, said army chief Chalermchai Sittisart, as the NCPO secretary-general, discussed the disappearance of Ms Yingluck in the meeting of the NCPO secretariat on Monday. The army chief urged all parties to follow up developments on the issue closely and support police investigation into the escape. Col Sirichan said that the NCPO had nothing to do with the escape and it was unnecessary for the NCPO to use any other means than the justice system. (TNA)
