Egypt promises Israel to clean army from Islamists

Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 8 / Trend R. Hafizoglu / Egypt's Minister of Defence, the Armed Forces chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi promised Israel to clean the army from Islamists, Al Jazira Arabic TV channel reported on Tuesday. According to the information, he also said that the new government and the Ministry of Defence needs time to carry out reforms in the army. The arrests of Muslim Brotherhood members began after the overthrow of ex-President Mohamed Morsi as a result of a military coup. Morsi himself, as well as Muslim Brotherhood leaders were thrown in Cairo's jail. He is accused of collaboration with Hamas and escape from prison in 2011. Earlier the Egyptian court decided to ban the activities of Muslim Brotherhood movement in the country. For decades, the Muslim Brotherhood movement was outlawed in Egypt, and only after the fall of Hosni Mubarak's regime, the movement presented itself to the world as a well-organized political force.
