EMBASSY OF INDIA HOLDS RECEPTION FOR 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS INDEPENDENCE

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Embassy of the Republic of India held a reception at the “Blue Sky” hotel’s Diamond Ball Hall dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the country’s independence. At the event which attracted political and religious figures, heads of diplomatic missions and creative artists, opening remarks were delivered by Mr Ravi Shanker Goel, the Charge d’Affaires of the Indian Embassy in Mongolia. Through his speech, he talked about the fight of Indian for their independence, achievements and future. “Since our Independence, the stress on the moral basis of policy and action, belief in unity and discipline, faith in a synthesis of heritage and science, and promotion of the rule of law and of education – all of it was located in a partnership between citizen and government. That is how our nation has been built – by a partnership between citizen and government, between individual and society, between a family and the wider community,” he said. “Today, the world is looking at India with admiration. Our country is seen as a responsible global citizen, a growing economy, anda solution provider to various international challenges – such as climate change, disasters, conflicts, humanitarian crises, radicalism and terrorism. India, the land of Buddha, is a peaceful nation and has been spreading ‘harmony and peace’,” he said. Following the speech, a documentary film on India and its people was shown to the event.
