Final agreement in Vienna relies on efficient removal of sanctions

Vienna, IRNA – Negotiations for lifting the US unilateral sanctions on Iran resume after a five-month interval as the stances taken by the Iranian negotiating team indicate that a final deal is subject to an effective and sustainable removal of sanctions on Tehran. Based on an announcement by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani, the Iranian negotiating team is scheduled to leave the Iranian capital for Vienna within hours. The Iranian team will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani. Kanaani said that this round of talks will be coordinated by the European Union as the previous rounds of negotiations and that the talks will be focused on reviewing the viewpoints put forward by Iran and other participants to the talks – known as P4+1. Reiterating Iran's resolve for reaching a sustainable deal that will guarantee the rights and interests of the Iranian nation, the Iranian spokesman expressed hope that the other parties will also pave the way for the progress of the talks by taking the necessary decisions to solve the remaining issues. Eight rounds of intensive talks between representatives from Iran and P4+1 have reached a point now that the success or defeat of the talks relies on political decisions by the US which is the main violator of a nuclear deal in 2015 – known as JCPOA. It is believed that if Washington makes the necessary decisions, a final decision is even within the reach in the present round of talks. Deputy EU foreign policy chief Enrique Mora had earlier said in a tweet that he was going to visit Vienna for a fresh round of talks on the revival of JCPOA. Mora said that he plans to facilitate the revival of JCPOA based on a draft agreement that Josep Borrell put on the table last week. Borrell says he has presented a draft deal which he claims to be the best kind of deal. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
