FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER MEETS QATARI AMBASSADOR

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On March 5, Foreign Affairs Minister D.Tsogtbaatar met Sultan bin Salmeen al-Mansouri, Non-resident Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Mongolia to exchange views on bilateral relations and cooperation. The Ambassador conveyed a Tsagaan Sar greeting of Qatari Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to Minister D.Tsogtbaatar, and expressed his satisfaction for active development of the bilateral relations. Moreover, the Ambassador highlighted the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries occuring this year and affirmed a willingness to advance the bilateral cooperation. In turn, the Minister D.Tsogtbaatar underlined the importance of mutual supports in developing bilateral relations, especially expanding cooperation in economy and making investment from Qatar to Mongolia. D.Tsogtbaatar also thanked the Ambassador for his efforts to deepen bilateral relations. Mongolia and the State of Qatar established the diplomatic relations on January 23, 1998. As of first nine months of 2017, bilateral trade turnover reached approximately USD470 thousand, of which Mongolia’s export amounted about USD200 thousand. In 2006, Qatari Government granted a non-refundable assistance worth USD10 million to Mongolia for its constructional project ‘Millennium Road’.
