FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS NON-RESIDENT AMBASSADOR OF QATAR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar received Monday Sultan bin Salmeen al-Mansouri, Non-Resident Ambassador of Qatar to Mongolia. They exchanged views on the bilateral relations and cooperation. Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen al-Mansouri conveyed congratulatory greetings to Minister D.Tsogtbaatar from Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Qatar Minister of Foreign Affairs and then noted his country intends to develop cooperation in cultural, sports, tourism and economic sectors with Mongolia. The Ambassador said the Qatar Investment Authority is willing to make investment in Mongolia, so he proposed to introduce developmental and investment projects that are available to take investments from Qatar. In response, the Foreign Minister emphasized Mongolia and Qatar have friendly ties. He underlined the importance for Mongolia to learn Qatari experiences in real estate and urban development, to attract investments and to collaborate in culture, diplomacy and sport. Minister D.Tsogtbaatar also congratulated Qatar on being elected as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Mongolia and Qatar established the diplomatic relations n January 23, 1998. As of first nine months of this year, the trade turnover reached almost US 470 thousand, of which USD 200 thousand was the Mongolian export. In 2006, the Qatari Government granted a non-refundable aid of US 10 million for the Millennium Road Project. With the money, a 65 km road was but in a route between Tsetserleg and Tosontsengel.
