GEC ADOPTS ELECTION BROADCASTING GUIDELINES

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The General Election Commission (GEC) met on May 26, Friday to discuss some organizational issues surrounding the upcoming Presidential election. D.Davaasuren, Head of Central Commission to collect the votes of Mongolian nationals living abroad reported that 45 sub-commissions had been set up in 33 countries, and over 200 personnel to work at the sub-commissions had been trained. Over 7300 Mongolians registered themselves to vote, and the list has been scrutinized by the corresponding organizations. The meeting also discussed and approved election broadcasting guidelines for Mongolian National Public Radio and Television which allows equal air-time for all candidates. As such, each candidate will have 15 minutes for a program and 2 minute for news per day. The GEC also confirmed the number and design of ballot paper for the June 26 election. The meeting was observed by representatives of delegation from OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. Kh.Aminaa
