GEC MAKES SOME DECISIONS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ At its meeting held on Wednesday, the General Election Commission (GEC) made some decisions on realization of the election law and ensuring the election preparation. For instance, the index and numbers of voting papers have been fixed, and some amendments have been made on the rule of observing and reporting the election process. In accordance with the amendment, candidates are allowed to appoint up to four observers at one election section. In addition, majority of the GEC's members rejected to register as a candidate N.Enkhbayar, a former President of Mongolia who has been nominated from the "Justice" joint coalition of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party and National Democratic Party, after considering inquiries from the GEC, the Corruption Combating Agency and the General Authority for Implementing Court Decisions. This decision was made based on the laws on election of the State Great Khural and on self-governance bodies. Furthermore, the GEC did not register E.Batshugar of the "Justice" coalition as a candidate because he does not satisfy a clause of the parliamentary election law. B.Khuder
