Ghobash attends ILO's 101st session in Geneva

Geneva - UAE Labour Minister Saqr Ghobash attended the 101st session of International Labour Organisation (ILO) here on Friday at ILO head-office. Present were the heads of states, ministers of Labour and business and workforce representatives from 184 member states in the ILO. Tunisian President Mohamed Moncef Marzouki delivered a keynote speech being a guest of honour for this session. He said Tunisia needs to benefit from the experiences of other nations, which managed to build their economies on their capabilities and assistance from the international organisations such as ILO. "Tunisia is aware of the need to review erstwhile model of development, which had increased the number of the marginalised and unemployed, and made the country to moan under the weight of external debt." The Tunisian President stressed the significance of social development, indicating that his country is working on a new model of development based on equality of economic and social opportunities, and common prosperity. Ghobash attended the reception hosted by the Tunisian President in his capacity as a guest of honour. The event was attended guests of the conference, heads of the delegates, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps. Three major topics are high on the agenda till June 15: Youth Employment, Social Protection and Social Justice. The UAE delegation includes: Humaid bin Dimas Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Labour Affairs, Hussein Al-Sheikh, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Social Affairs, Nasser Butti Al Shamsi, Director General of the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, Dr Ahmed Al Jaberi, Director of Pensions and Insurance Receivables at the General Pensions and Social Security Authority and Qasim Al Hadrami, Director of the Department of Labour Guidance and other senior officials. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
