GUIDELINES ON GOVERNMENT-FUNDED HEALTHCARE ADOPTED

Adoption of the guidelines will facilitate government purchase of medical services rendered by private sectors through social insurance organizations and reduce workload of state hospitals, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection sees. From recently, government-funded long-term rehabilitation and hemodialysis treatments are being financed by an agreement through health insurance organization. As such, conditions for government purchase of hemodialysis treatment by private hospitals were created last March. Mongolian law regulates that Government will cover the costs of medical services during pregnancy, delivery and post-delivery; some child health services, mandatory vaccination, immunization and decontamination during epidemic; some emergency medical services on soum and household level, medical services during disasters and epidemics; treatment of injuries and diseases sustained during defense of necessity and necessary rescue; some treatments of tuberculosis, cancer and mental illness; some drugs prescribed for long-term rehabilitation; and healthcare for victims of physical and sexual abuse.
