Iranˈs Nuclear Issue Can Be Solved Through Interaction: President Ahmadinejad

Moscow, July 3, IRNA – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that the dispute over Iranˈs nuclear program can be solved only through interaction. President Ahmadinejad, who is in Moscow to attend the second Summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), in a meeting with a group of Russian elites said the only way is to reach an understanding and accept a nuclear Iran whose nuclear program is completely peaceful. Iranˈs nuclear issue is an example of imperialist powersˈ enmity with the Iranian nation, he said, adding that imperialism do not want to see any independent and strong government. ˈIn the past, opportunities were provided to solve Iranˈs nuclear issue, but the two sides failed to make use of them.ˈ Asked to comment on Turkey, the country which claims to be able to solve Syria crisis as the leading Muslim country, he said ˈIn a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in New York two years ago, I told him that Syrian conflict could be resolved through dialogue and free elections.ˈ He added that in that meeting and several other meetings with Erdogan, he had warned the Turkish premier against the possibility of unrest in Turkey and Westˈs plots to destabilize all regional countries. ˈI told the Turkish Prime Minister that Western countries only care about their own interests and do not want Turkey, Iran, Russia, Egypt, Iraq and other independent countries to be powerful,ˈ he said. Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that Western countries do not want Syrian conflict to come to an end, because the continuation of current situation is to their benefit. They want to spread unrest to Iraq and Lebanon. President Ahmadinejad arrived in Moscow Monday on a two-day visit and was welcomed at the airport by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Vladimirovich Morgulov. The GECF is an intergovernmental organization of 11 world leading natural gas producers made up of Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. The agenda of the summit covers a number of issues including current developments in world gas markets; the situation of the gas industry in general and in the member states in particular; the views of the member countries regarding their own as well as the consumersˈ energy and gas policies and the current and future status of GECF. The ministerial meeting of the GECF was held on Saturday with the participation of Irans Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi./end
