Iran-Lebanon Discuss Expansion Of Bilateral Ties

Beirut, May 1, IRNA - The first preliminary session of Iran-Lebanon High Joint Cooperation Commission was held here on Monday.
The session was attended by Iranian Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development Jamshid Noorsalehi, his Lebanese counterpart Foad Falifel and Iranain Ambassador to Beirut Ghazanfar Roknabadi.
Falifel in a meeting with Noorsalehi said Lebanon is keen to expand ties with Iran in all sectors such as energy, transportation and trade.
He called for further expansion and strengthening of Lebanon’s mutual trade and economic ties with Iran especially after signing some new agreements during the High Joint Cooperation Commission meeting in Beitrut.
Today's meeting makes preparations for a meeting between Iran's First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Wednesday.
Rahimi, heading a high-ranking delegation, is scheduled to arrive in Beirut on Wednesday (May 2).
During his stay, the Iranian first vice president would hold talks with Lebanese president, prime minister and parliament speaker.
This is the first such meeting in the history of bilateral relations between Iran and Lebanon and therefore Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development Ali Nikzad is to arrive in Beirut on Tuesday to take part in the meeting./end
