Iran not seeking nuclear weapons given Leader’s fatwa: Turkish PM

TEHRAN, April 7 (MNA) – Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he does not think Iran is seeking to produce nuclear weapons given the Supreme Leader’s fatwa in this regard, AP reported on April 2. Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has issued a fatwa declaring that the production, stockpiling, and use of nuclear weapons are all haram (prohibited in Islam). “After such a statement from such a person, I cannot claim that Iran is building a nuclear weapon,” the Turkish prime minister said. “Does it not have the right to implement a nuclear program for peaceful means?”
