Iran Wants Nothing Beyond NPT Rights: President tells Japan ex-PM

Tehran, April 9, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday that Iran wants nothing beyond the rights enshrined by Non-Proliferation Treaty.
In a meeting with former Japanese prime minister Yukio Hatoyama, President Ahmadinejad called for partnership of all governments and representatives of the United Nations member states in administration of the international community.
'The Islamic Republic of Iran is keen on developing cooperation with the Japanese government on issues consistent with the international peace and security and disarmament of nuclear weapons,' President Ahmadinejad said.
'Íran believes that other governments have no right to impose their will on other nations. Rather, they must contribute to eliminatation of weapons of mass destruction.'
President Ahmadinejad said that the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for administration of the international community on the basis of justice and friendship.
'As economic monopoly brings corruption, monopolizing policy making for the international community leads to corruption too.'
President Ahmadinejad said that the world community must be freed from WMDs, adding that using nuclear bombs against the Japanese people damaged the great nation of Japan and injured the sentiments of the entire nations of the international community.
He said that the international borders have political aspects, but, the humanitarian issues are common ground for the entire international community regardless of geographical borders.
'Islamic culture regards any damage to human being as an injustice to the entire international community. It is an Islamic principle and the Islamic Republic renounces WMDs as per the commands of Islam.'
He said that Iran had voluntarily signed Additional Protocol to NPT and observed it for three years, but, the former US president termed Iran as part of axis of evil at the end of three-year intrusive inspection of Iranian nuclear sites by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Elsewhere in his remarks, President Ahmadinejad said that Iran welcomes international cooperation in nuclear program.
He criticized the Group 5+1 for setting unilateral demands in the nuclear talks, whereas, the two parties must consider the other party's demands in the negotiations.
He said that the Group 5+1 has so far refused to supply Iran with 20 percent enriched uranium to fuel Tehran medical research reactor.
Ahmadinejad said in the meantime that Iran will put forward practical proposals in the upcoming nuclear talks with Group 5+1./end
