ISA in three areas in Bangkok revoked

BANGKOK, November 26 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has signed an official order on the revocation of the Internal Security Act (ISA) in three districts in Bangkok with immediate effect. Yingluck signed the order on lifting the ISA imposed in the capital's Dusit, Phra Nakhon and Pomprab Sattrupai Districts on Monday afternoon, as recommended by security agencies concerned. Earlier in the day, National Police Chief Police General Adul Saengsingkaew said that he had a discussion with the prime minister over the possibility of lifting the special law, after the end of an eight-hour anti-government rally, led by the Pitak Siam group, last Saturday evening. According to the newly-appointed national police chief, he also believed there would be no unrest during an ongoing no-confidence debate against the government in the Parliament. The Thai government enforced the one-week ISA in the capital's three districts last Thursday, set from November 22-30, aimed to maintain order during the anti-government rally. The mass demonstration, however, ended on Saturday evening. (TNA)
