It was inevitable for us to take measures on Syria, says Deputy PM Arinc

ISTANBUL (A.A) - November 30, 2011 - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said Wednesday that Turkey's measures on Syria assured that the brotherly people of Syria would not be negatively affected. Speaking at the inauguration of the "Turkish-Arab Media Forum" in Istanbul, Arinc said that they might not be in agreement with the Syrian administration but that the people of Syria were the brothers and sisters of Turkey. It is our aim that the Syrian people do not get harmed in their daily lives, Arinc said. Accordingly, Turkey has not included the water and electricity issues in its list of sanctions on Syria so that the people of Syria do not get hurt, Arinc said. We will continue to supply water and electricity to Syria, Arinc noted. Turkey, since the beginning of the process, has extended its friendly and brotherly hand and it was no coincidence for millions of people to hear Turkey's voice all the way from Tahrir Square to Damascus, and from Tunisia to Sana'a, Arinc said. It is crucial to establish a common future by solidarity. It should be the responsibility of everyone to make our region one of stability, Arinc stressed.
