Japan, China Agree to Improve Bilateral Ties

Tokyo, Sept. 26 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and Tang Jiaxuan, visiting president of the China-Japan Friendship Association, agreed on Monday to improve relations between their countries. At a meeting held in the Foreign Ministry, Kishida expressed his intention to expand the positive side as much as possible, deal with pending problems appropriately and develop bilateral relations. Tang, former Chinese state councillor, said there is no change to the Chinese side's basic policy of highly valuing and improving the Japan-China relations. Both sides need to have a sense of responsibility and crisis to establish better relations, Tang also said. After the meeting, Tang told reporters that he had exchanged views with Kishida on Chinese activities in the East China Sea. China will resolve the issue through dialogue, no matter what happens, Tang said, adding that his country needs to do its best. Ahead of the meeting with Kishida, Tang held talks with Masahiko Komura, vice president of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party. END
