Joint Conference of Social Organizations Held

Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- A joint conference of social organizations took place here Tuesday, the 45th anniversary of the publication of the July 4 joint statement. Kim Jong Suk, chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with the World People, in her report said that the publication of the July 4 joint statement main contents of which are the three principles of national reunification for independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity was the historic event as it gave all Koreans the great programme for reunification common to the nation. The present reality when the U.S. and its vassal forces' moves to ignite a nuclear war and campaign for sanctions and pressure against the DPRK are getting serious urgently requires holding fast to the three principles of national reunification in the drive for reunification of Korea, the reporter said. She called upon the social organizations which took part in the joint conference to fulfill their responsibilities and roles in the work for accomplishing the cause of national reunification. An appeal to all the progressives of the world was read out at the conference. It said: Firstly, let us fully support the just struggle of the Korean people to achieve the reunification of the country on the principle of national independence and great national unity. Secondly, let us vigorously launch worldwide activities for ensuring peace and security on the Korean peninsula and strongly demanding the U.S. withdraw its hostile policy toward the DPRK. Thirdly, let us vehemently stage the struggle for denouncing injustice and illegality of the anti-DPRK sanctions and racket of "human rights" by the U.S. and its vassal forces and achieving genuine international justice. Fourthly, let us launch international solidarity movement supporting Korea's reunification as more extensive and massive one. The appeal expressed the belief that all the progressive people, who aspire after the building of an independent new world and global peace, will extend full support and solidarity to the cause of the Korean people for national reunification in the future, too. -0-
