Larijani: Foreign Spying Services Behind Chabahar Terrorist Attack

Tehran, Oct 21, IRNA – Speaker of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Ali Larijani said Sunday that the recent terrorist attack in the southeastern city of Chabahar in Sistan-Baluchestan province was ordered by "certain spying services outside Iran." Addressing Majlis Sunday open session, the speaker condoled local residents of Chabahar and Sistan-Baluchestan province on the incident and urged related bodies and officials to immediately follow up the case. Local security forces stopped a suicide bomber entering a mosque in Chabahar on October 19. While escaping, the attacker detonated himself and killed two of the security forces. Larijani said that the original plan of the attacker was to blast the bomb among worshipers of the mosque but he failed to do so as he was identified and then stopped by the vigilant Basiji (Volunteer) and security forces present in the mosque. Referring to the recent terrorist attack in Lebanon, Larijani said the attack was made in line with the US policy to mount pressures on Iran by planning terrorist attacks both in Iran and Lebanon. He said the Lebanon bomb blast had many vague aspects and seemed to be the beginning of a new adventure in the region./end
