The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with thousands of Iranian students on the eve of National Students Day (November 3rd.) The Supreme Leader said that the senior officials must remain committed to their pledges and fully understand the country's situation and avoid any disputes prior to the elections. The Leader said that the heads of the Executive, Judiciary and Legislature must not incite sentiments of the people prior to the presidential election by sowing discord for electoral votes. Highlighting 60 years of struggles of Iranian nation with global arrogance led by the US and subsequent blows Iran has dealt to the United States, the Supreme Leader said that Iran has made great strides in political and economic areas after getting rid of dependence on Washington. It took about 25 years for Iranian nation to overcome the US hegemony in the first phase as the Americans from the early stages of Islamic Revolution tried to create obstacles and masterminded plots and conspiracies all of which were handled by their former embassy in Tehran, said the Supreme Leader. 'Storming the US embassy and its occupation on November 4, 1979 coincided with National Student Day in Iran as a grave defeat for US.' The Leader said that the US government has been involved in a variety of anti-Iran campaign in the past 34 years since victory of the Islamic Revolution, adding that they continued their plots to compensate their defeat in 1979 which is considered as a regional defeat for the global arrogance and the uprising underway in North Africa as well as in Arab states and hatred of world nations to US policies are in continuation of the same trend. Role of Islam is such significant success and victory should be highlighted, Ayatollah Khamenei said. 'Iranian people have conquered scientific peaks and are to continue their path with more insight which has left indisputable impacts on regional and global developments.' The US prestige has been shattered and demolished as their principles and values are on fall, said the Supreme Leader. Their claim on campaign against terrorism goes to nowhere as they support MKO and have removed them from their black list, said the Supreme Leader. 'Their supports for world dictators and despotic regimes are well-known to all.' They also have violated their pledged on backing human rights as they have committed most anti-human measures through backing Zionists who have trampled upon legitimate rights of Palestinians in the past 60 years, said the Supreme Leader. The US as the richest nation in the world with huge access to natural resources is considered as the most indebted nation in the world due to mismanagement of its rulers, said the Supreme Leader. High number of inmates is not in proportion to their population which runs counter to their claim on advocating freedom in the world, Ayatollah Khamenei said. 'The Wall Street 99 percent movement in the US was formed while the US people are ignorant to many realities and if the US government let the people find out the realities, the movement will be spread dramatically.' They are much submitted to Zionists, the Supreme Leader said adding that this is very shameful that the US presidential candidates try to win the support of Zionists.
