Lavrov, Zarif discuss Syria situation via telephone

MOSCOW Russian and Iranian top diplomats discussed the Syrian settlement via telephone Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Sergey Lavrov and Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed the Syrian settlement in the context of the agreements of the guarantor countries of the Astana format. The two men also exchanged opinions regarding the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal. Lavrov offered condolences for the victims of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak in Iran and confirmed Russia's readiness to help Tehran counter the contagion.
