MAYOR S.BATBOLD PAYS VISIT TO DENVER CITY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Delegates led by Mayor of the capital city and Governor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold visited the city of Denver, USA at the invitation of the Denver city's Mayor. During the visit the city governors met and exchanged their views on relations and cooperation between the two cities. At the beginning of the meeting Mayor S.Batbold expressed his gratitude to Denver city governor for his warm welcome and said that "Ulaanbaatar and Denver cities established a relationship in 2001. We are delighted that our friendly relations are continuing to expand and we hope that this relationship will continue to grow in the future. Our two cities have similar climate and geographical locations. Therefore, we have a position to intensify the cooperation between the two cities in environment and public transportation sectors. Moreover we have a proposal to implement specialists exchange program to improve services provided to the citizens by Ulaanbaatar city's local administrations." He also invited the governor of Denver city to visit Ulaanbaatar city at a convenient time. The Mayor of Denver, Michael Hancock shared his memories of his visit to Ulaanbaatar in 2015 and mentioned about the achievement of direct rail connection from the city downtown to the airport to solve the traffic jam. " In collaboration with Japan we have also implemented a program on environment protection and training rangers of protected areas. We can share our experience in this regard and broaden our cooperation" he said and expressed his gratitude for inviting him to Ulaanbaatar. During the visit the delegates were introduced to the activities of Ulaanbaatar-Denver Sister Cities Committee, Denver Botanic Gardens, University of Colorado Denver, The National Western Center, project 'C.U.R.E', as well as Denver city's policies and actions on sustainable development, public transportation and environment G.Tuguldur
