MINING MINISTER SUGGESTS PROVIDING LOCALS WITH JOBS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On November 23, Mining and Heavy Industry Minister D. Sumyabazar met delegates led by Jiang Weidong, President of Petrochina Daqing Tamsag LLC. Petrochina Daqing Tamsag LLC is one of Chinese investors operating in Mongolia’s oil sector. At the meeting, the Minister was introduced its pressing issues regarding taxation, labor force and energy. The Minister said, “We want this project to be one of good examples of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. We will work for creating pleasant and friendly business environment for our foreign investors and neighbors. Identically, we wish our investors to contribute Mongolia’s economy and local development. Local Mongolians and businesses should be provided with jobs, including to work as subcontractors. In addition, soil and environment of the steppe have been seriously damaged; thus, the company has to take immediate actions to build 68km roads between Tamsag extractive site and Toson-Uul Bayankhoshuu border checkpoint. Moreover, special attention should be given to improve living conditions of workers.” In the conclusion of the meeting, Jiang Weidong thanked the Minister for the welcome and pledged to reflect the Minister’s suggestion on its activities.
