MONGOLIAN LEADER MEETS SINGAPOREAN PRESIDENT

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The President a Ts.Elbegdorj met with his Singaporean counterpart on Monday.
During the welcoming ceremony for the Mongolian leader in front of the Istana--the official residence of the President of Singapore--the national anthems of the two countries were played, and a guard of honor was lined up in a row.
After this, Mr Elbegdorj met with the President Tony Tan Keng Yam to share views on ties and cooperation between our countries.
The Mongolian leader thanked the government and the people of Singapore for their warm receiving of the Mongolian delegation, and expressed a pleasure for broadening relations and cooperation between our countries.
Mr Elbegdorj said he will focus on creating more opportunities of cooperation, especially in air and water transportation and technologies, noting that Singapore is a major port of global transportation networks.
He also stressed a significance of boosting educational cooperation to develop knowledge-based economy in Mongolia.
Then the dignitaries shared views on defense cooperation and negotiations at the Shangri-La dialogues conference, which has been held in Singapore since 2002 by the International Institute of Strategic Studies.
The President Tony Tan Keng Yam expressed a full support for all the proposals Mr Elbegdorj sounded and for further cooperation.
