NAT'L OLYMPIADS HELD
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The national Olympiad for geography named after 70th anniversary of the Mongolian State University (MSY) ran May 9-12 in the MSU School of Geography and Geology.
This Olympiad has run among top pupils and teachers who have been selected from the previous rounds from the capital city and provinces. They solved the theoretical and practical problems.
A pupil from Khovsgol aimag O.Gonchigjav won a gold medal; a pupil of the city's “Sant” secondary school B.Bulgan and L.Javzanpurev from the city's #79 school captured silver medals; the bronze went to Ts.Purevdorj (Zavkhan aimag), M.Purevsuren (Baigal Ekh school) and E.Monkhtushig (Khentii aimag). They have been awarded a right to study in any state and private university and institute with the governmental scholarships, without the enrolling examination.
A teacher of the “Bor Ondor” complex school of Khentii aimag B.Altansukh won a gold medal in the contest among teachers.

On May 10-12, Mongolia held its 17th national Olympiad for Russian language.
Annually organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, this Olympiad ran this year among 9-11th grades pupils in two divisions, and teachers.
A pupil from Bayan-Olgii aimag Sh.Yerkenur won a gold medal in the lower division among 9th grade pupils. He has been followed by B.Angarag (Ulaanbaatar), M.Chuluun-Erdene (Ulaanbaatar) and N.Otgonbayar (Dornod).
In the higher division of the 9th grade contest, S.Sarangoo from the city grabbed a gold medal. The silver medal went to Ts.Choijilsuren (Ulaanbaatar) and the bronze medal--to B.Zolboo (Khentii aimag).
The Grand Prix of the lower division contest for 11th grade were given to M.Nomin, L.Nandintsetseg, B.Narmandakh (Ulaanbaatar), D.Monkhjin (Uvs aimag). Its division's gold medal went to R.Arail from Bayan-Olgii aimag. A pupil from Dornod G.Oyunzul won a gold medal of the higher division contest for 11th grade pupils.
The Grand Prix winners have been awarded rights to study in universities and institutes of Russia with scholarships, whereas the medal winners were awarded rights to study in domestic universities and institutes with scholarships.
A teacher from Darkhan-Uul aimag B.Tumenjargal grabbed a gold medal in the contest of teachers.
