Nauruan president meets Thai prime minister
BANGKOK, June 16 (TNA) -- Thailand and Nauru plan to promote bilateral relations in all areas and be centers to distribute each other’s products.
Nauruan President Baron Divavesi Waqa called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House on June 15. Both emphasized intention to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation.
The prime minister assured that Thailand would support Nauru in sustainable development, especially that in fisheries.
The Nauruan president said that although his country was not big, it attached great importance to friendship and relations with Thailand. He insisted that his country was ready to promote relations and cooperation with Thailand in comprehensive ways.
The president and the prime minister agreed that Thailand would become a product distribution center for Nauru in Southeast Asia and Nauru would play the same role for Thai products in Pacific island countries. Besides, both countries should promote cooperation on tourism. (TNA)
