N.BATTSEREG MEETS U.S EMBASSY OFFICER

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A chairman of the parliamentary faction of the "Justice" coalition (Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party and National Democratic Party) N.Battsereg met on Thursday Mr Brian Kunz, the Political Section Chief at the U.S. Embassy in Mongolia. N.Battsereg noted that a drop in coal prices at the international market is causing a serious problem for Mongolia's budget, and underlined that Mongolia wants to forward a level of the trade and economic cooperation with the USA not only in mining sector but also in other fields. "The strategic importance of energy coal will always be significant. The government of Mongolia considers that the "Peabody Energy" corporation is of the most possible companies to cooperate with us in exploitation of the Tavan tolgoi coal deposit," N.Battsereg said. Then he asked Mr Kunz how the U.S side sees a future of the Tavan tolgoi deposit and whether it has an interest in cooperating and investing the TT.
