OIC Secretary General condemns suicide bomb attack on Afghan journalists

JEDDAH, 25th January, 2016 (WAM) -- The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, strongly condemned the recent suicide bomb attack on a bus in Kabul carrying journalists of Tolo News of Afghanistan which killed all seven journalists travelling in the bus. Offering his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, Government and people of Afghanistan, Madani recalled OIC’s press release issued on 14 October 2015 expressing its concern at the statements through which news channels and journalists in Afghanistan were specifically identified as potential targets. The Secretary General reiterated the principled position of the OIC against all forms of terrorism and extremism. Madani, once again, reminded that according to international humanitarian law, journalists are civilians and that any attack on them is against the rule of law.
