Parliamentarians of Kyrgyzstan and South Korea discuss enhancing trade-economic cooperation

The delegation of the Friendship Group for Cooperation with Kyrgyzstan of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea met on Wednesday with Deputy Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Asel Koduranova, the press service of the Kyrgyz parliament reported. Welcoming the guests, Deputy Speaker Koduranova noted that parliamentarians from friendly South Korea are always welome in Kyrgyzstan. She stressed that the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and South Korea are united by the common traditional values ​​and principles of democracy. Koduranov briefly informed the Korean parliamentarians about the measures taken in the Kyrgyz Republic to build parliamentarism, noted the importance of closer and more productive ties between the Committees and Friendship Groups of the parliaments of the two countries. "This will allow us to have constant contact, to have an exchange of opinions and experience for improving the work of the parliaments of the two countries," she said. In terms of trade and economic cooperation, the Deputy Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, noting the low level of trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and South Korea, called on the deputies of the Korean Parliament to promote the development of the Kyrgyz-Korean cooperation at the legislative level. At the same time, she expressed gratitude to the Korean side for the active participation of their delegation in the 3rd World Nomad Games. In turn, the head of the delegation Lee Jong Bae said that the first working visit to Kyrgyzstan was made by the parliamentary delegation of Korea in 2013 and after that the inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries had been successfully developing. "In 2010 Kyrgyzstan chose the path of parliamentary democracy. We respect your choice. It is difficult for socialist countries to move to democracy, so we support you,” Lee Jong Bae said. At the same time, with regard to trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and South Korea, he expressed readiness to assist in every possible way to resolve the issues raised by the Kyrgyz side.
