PEACEKEEPERS AWARDED STATE PRIZES

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A ceremony took place on Thursday to award the state prizes peacekeepers and military officers who have served in the UN peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan. By the President's decree, the Honorary Military medal has been given to Major P.Ariunbat, a company commander at the #032 military unit; Lieutenant-Colonel J.Osokhbayar, an training officer of the Armed Forces; Captain P.Delgermorom, a company commander at the #084 military unit; and other officers and servicemen. The Medal for Peace has gone to 180 servicemen. The same day, 50 troops were awarded the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class Medals of Military Glory and the 2nd and 3rd class Medal for Motherland by order of the Defense Minister. Present at the ceremony were P.Tsagaan, a head of the Presidential Office; D.Bat-Erdene MP, the Minister of Defense; Lieutenant-General Ts.Byambajav, a head of the General Headquarters of Mongolia's Armed Forces (GHMAF); Major-General Ya.Choijamts, the State Secretary of the Defense Ministry; Ms P.Campbell, the U.S Ambassador to Mongolia; and other officials from the Defense Ministry and the GHMAF.
