Permanent Representative gives speech in NY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations (UN) and Ambassador O.Och delivered a speech at a general debate of the 3rd session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) kicked off April 28 in New York City, USA. Through his speech, Mr Och expressed a position of the Mongolian government, mentioning about a summit of the UN General Assembly concerning non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and other related high-level meetings held in Mexico and the Netherlands, talks running within the international community on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and their positive trends, and then emphasized an importance of intensifying the efforts for them. Mr Och confirmed that a creation of nuclear weapon-free zones will be a fruitful measure for regions to realize the goal for non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, and introduced to the participants measures taken by Mongolia for strengthening its nuclear weapon-free status. Noting about a proposal of Mongolia over conducting the 2nd general survey on nuclear weapon-free region by the UN, Mr Och hopes that the contract’s participants will back this initiative.
