PM arrives in Washington DC to meet US president

UNITED STATES, Oct 2 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha arrived in Washington DC to meet United States President Donald Trump. Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha and his wife arrived at Washington Dulles International Airport at 10.40am on Oct 1 local time, or 9.40pm Thailand time. Then his delegation which included the ministers of foreign affairs, interior and commerce and the deputy minister of defence met Thai business people and investors in the US. Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sokondhapatipak said 25 Thai business people in agricultural, food, financial, property, petrochemical and automotive sectors accompanied the prime minister. The meeting with Thai business people was aimed at discussing investment barriers and trade opportunities to prepare for the meeting with Mr Trump on Oct 2. The meeting with the US president will consist of a face-to-face meeting between Gen Prayut and Mr Trump and a plenary meeting. Participants will discuss security, economic, trade, investment, strategic cooperation and relation issues. This evening the prime minister and the representatives of the Thai business sector will have a dinner with the US private sector to discuss the expansion of cooperation. (TNA)
