PM is happy with rising fruit prices

BANGKOK, June 6 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed his satisfaction with higher fruit prices and predicted better farm yields in the next two years. Gen Prayut shared the satisfaction with orchard owners from Chanthaburi province who introduced their 2017 Fruitpital Fair in the eastern province, before a cabinet meeting at Government House on June 6. Meeting the farmers, the prime minister said that he loved to eat all Thai fruits, especially durian. He told the orchard owners there that he was happy that the prices of fruits and other farm products were rising and he believed that farmers would enjoy their yields because there would be more water for them in the next two years. The prime minister would visit the 2017 Fruitpital Fair in Chanthaburi on June 7. The fair was set on June 3-11. On the same occasion, he would inquire about the situations of farm products there. On the agenda for the cabinet meeting on June 6 were a 2-billion-baht project to build 4,300 rental flats for low-income earners, a national strategy to protect the young from online threats, and a 220-billion-baht water management and land use plan for 20-year implementation.
